The house where Christian Doppler was born is at Makartplatz 1 in the provincial capital of Salzburg . The birthplace of the mathematician and physicist Christian Doppler (1803-1853) is under monument protection ( list entry ).

The building was built at the end of the 18th century.

architecture

The three-storey building, which is free-standing on three sides, has pilaster strips on the upper floors and shows window frames in tile style . In the roof, the two longitudinal facades are gabled in the middle; the narrower head facade is divided unevenly and received in the hip roof in the center a dormer . The ground floor has been changed since the building was constructed.
