Christian-Ludwig Weber-Lortsch

Christian-Ludwig Weber-Lortsch (born before 1954) is a German diplomat and was most recently ambassador to Myanmar from 2011 to 2017 .

Life

After attending school, he studied law at the University of Munich and the University of Paris from 1971 to 1977 . He then worked as a trainee lawyer and research assistant at the Institute for Politics at the University of Munich.

In 1980 he entered the diplomatic service and, after completing his preparatory service in 1982, worked in the office of the State Secretaries at the Foreign Office . After working at the embassy in Greece from 1983 to 1986 and in the People's Republic of China from 1986 to 1987, he returned to the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn between 1987 and 1990.

In 1990 he became Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to Malaysia and from 1995 to 1998 Head of Training at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After working as permanent representative of the Ambassador in Algeria , he was Head of Division for Asia , Africa and Latin America in the Federal Chancellery between 2000 and 2003 . In 2003 he was appointed ambassador to Vietnam . From 2007 to 2011 Weber-Lortsch was ambassador to the Philippines . His successor as ambassador in Manila was Joachim Heidorn .

Christian-Ludwig Weber-Lortsch had been ambassador to Myanmar since September 2011, until he was replaced by Dorothee Janetzke-Wenzel in August 2017.
