Christian Adolf von Seckendorff

Baron Christian Adolf , born as Adolph Christian von Seckendorff (born October 4, 1767 in Starkenberg ; † August 29, 1833 in Lucerne ) was a dramatic poet and cameralistic writer.

Life

Christian Adolf comes from the family of Freiherrn von Seckendorff and was born as the son of Colonel Friedrich Carl Freiherr von Seckendorff and Friederike Charlotte Henriette. von Tümpling was born at Starkenberg Castle and baptized “Adolph Christian” two days later.

He was initially in the military:

  • 1785 to 1786 subordinate in the Electoral Saxon Life Guard in Dresden
  • 1786 to 1791 Chamberlain and Lieutenant of the Guard on horseback in Mecklenburg-Schwerin service
  • 1791 to 1794 first lieutenant in the electoral hussar regiment

With his marriage in 1794, Seckendorff retired to his estate in Zingst near Querfurt. He managed his estate and devoted himself to writing. In 1828 he came into conflict with his neighbor over border disputes and was sentenced to imprisonment. He fled via Strasbourg to Switzerland, where he died on August 29, 1833 in Lucerne.
