Seckendorff (noble family)
Seckendorff (also: Seckendorf ) is the name of an old Franconian noble family .
history
The family takes its name from the town of Seckendorf near Cadolzburg ( Seckendorf Castle ) in Franconia and was first mentioned in a document with Heinrich von Seckendorff on May 1, 1254 and with the brothers Arnold , Burkhard and Ludwig von Seckendorff on October 16, 1259.
A Mr. Burckart von Seggendorf appears in a document on January 24, 1342 when the Counts Ludwig and Fridrich zu Oettingen , Landgraves in Alsace, gave him the “Theidigung” (participation?) Which he had in estates in the “heat” with Mr. Brun von which Lephenburg had agreed, confirmed.
A Seckendorff was appointed by the burgraves of Nuremberg as bailiff of Hohenberg .
Members of line Hoheneck had to 1328 the Truchsessamt and members of the line Nold 1412-1659 the taverns Office of Burggrafentums Nuremberg held. Of a total of 13 lines (Abenberg, Aberdar, Egersdorf, Gutend, Hörauf, Hoheneck, Jochsberg, Nold / Nolt († 1659), Obersteinbach, Pfaff, Rinhofen I, Rinhofen II, Rinhofen III) there are only three left (Aberdar , Gutend and Rinhofen III). The family belonged to the Frankish imperial knighthood , canton Steigerwald.

- Gudent line : Imperial Count and coat of arms improvement in Vienna on April 2, 1719 for the Imperial Field Marshal Friedrich Heinrich Freiherr von Seckendorff (1673–1763). Prussian counts in Berlin on January 17, 1816 for the royal Saxon privy councilor Adolph Franz Carl Freiherr von Seckendorff , director of the estates in Merseburg Abbey . Prussian approval for the continuation of the baron title by AKO Swinemünde (on board SM Yacht Hohenzollern ) on August 5, 1912 with a diploma of May 28, 1913 for the descendants of the brothers of the Duke of Braunschweig Colonel Gerald Freiherr von Seckendorff .
- Rinhofen line : Prussian approval for the continuation of the Freiherrn title by AKO Swinemünde (on board SM Yacht Hohenzollern ) on August 5, 1912 with a diploma from May 28, 1913 for the descendants of the royal Prussian government councilor Carl Freiherr von Seckendorff († 1840).

The family coat of arms shows a red linden branch in silver in the form of an 8 with four stalked red leaves on each side. On the helmet with red and silver blankets, a hermelin- tucked red tournament hat with seven black cock feathers.
