Ferdinand Felix Karl Christoph Freiherr von Seckendorff (born December 8, 1808 in Wiesbaden , † January 15, 1872 in Wetzlar ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Ferdinand was the second son of the Nassau government councilor and chamberlain Karl von Seckendorff (1772-1840) and his wife Charlotte, née Grün (1771-1814).

Military career

After attending grammar school in Koblenz , Seckendorff joined the 8th Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army as a gunner on January 16, 1826 . From 1827 to 1829 he graduated from the United Artillery and Engineering School , rose to an extra-budgetary second lieutenant at the end of December 1830 and was appointed an artillery officer on March 23, 1831 with a patent from November 24, 1830. On March 1, 1838, he was assigned to the 29th Infantry Regiment for a year and was promoted to captain and battery chief by the end of June 1848 . On December 1, 1853, Seckendorff was promoted to Captain First Class and from June 4, 1857, he worked as an artillery officer from the square in Cologne. In this capacity he was promoted to major on September 18, 1857 and on October 19, 1858 appointed commander of the 2nd division in the 8th Artillery Regiment. He was on 18 October 1861 Lieutenant Colonel transported and on January 9, 1864 position à la suite as a commander in the fortress Spandau added. Promoted to colonel on June 25, 1864 , he came to the Brandenburg Fortress Artillery Regiment No. 3 on April 18, 1865 (General Feldzeugmeister) . He received the character of major general on November 2, 1867 and was put up for disposal with a pension . He died on January 15, 1872 in Wetzlar.

His department commander wrote in his assessment in 1847: Very good moral conduct and decent behavior, active and useful in service, has good scientific knowledge. Suitable for transportation in his tour.

family

Seckendorf married on December 11, 1838 in Koblenz Bianka Gran Zberg (1815-1863), a daughter of rentiers Friedrich Gran Zberg from Wiesbaden. The couple had several children:

  • Friedrich Ferdinand (1844–1898), Prussian major ⚭ 1872 Marie Jepsen (1850–1913)
  • Ella (* 1854) ⚭ 1876 Eduard Liehr († 1894), Prussian major

After the death of his first wife, he married on October 4, 1864 in Wetzlar Johanna Charlotte Hiepe (1837–1907), a daughter of the pharmacist and Wetzlar city councilor Siegmund Friedrich Hiepe (1799–1861). The daughters Helene Charlotte (* 1866) and Frieda (* 1868) emerged from the marriage.
