Albert von Seckendorff
Albert Evan Edwin Reinhold Freiherr von Seckendorff (born March 11, 1849 in Ebersdorf ; † June 28, 1921 at Brand Castle , near Marktredwitz ) was a German vice admiral , diplomat and court marshal of Prince Heinrich of Prussia .
Life
His wife was Julia Freifrau von Seckendorff .
In 1890 Otto von Bismarck instructed the German Vice Consul in Tianjin , Seckendorff, to work together with the envoy for “a suitable influence” in favor of the AG Vulcan Stettin . Seckendorf had Li Hongzhang tell him about the decision-making process at the Chinese court of the Qing dynasty and spoke to Viceroy Liu Kungyi Nanyang for the Vulcan Stettin group .
Between his stay in Shantou and Tianjin , Seckendorff acquired Brand Castle in 1890 from Johanna von Voß, née Freiin von Beust. and had it remodeled in the following years.
On May 7, 1888, Seckendorff was initially entrusted with the management of the court marshal of Prince Heinrich of Prussia. He was finally appointed court marshal on November 13, 1888. He was to hold this position until November 5, 1918, until the end of the monarchy in Germany. In early 1902, Seckendorff accompanied Heinrich von Prussia (1862–1929) on a state visit to the USA . In 1912 he was chargé d'affaires of the consulate of the German Empire in Tangier / Morocco. In 1913 and 1915 von Seckendorff received audiences with Sun Yat-sen on diplomatic missions .
- From 1913 to 1914 Albert von Seckendorff was deputy envoy in Beijing .
- On October 6, 1913, Yuan Shikai was elected Provisional President of the Republic of China (1912-1949) in the third ballot with 759 votes corresponding to the required three-quarters majority of the members of the Nanjing Provisional Senate present .
- On October 1, 1913, Seckendorff recognized the government of the Republic of China (1912-1949) by the government of Theobald von Bethmann Hollweg by a note agreed with the powers that be .
From July 31, 1914 to January 24, 1918 he was simultaneously made available to the Commander-in-Chief of the Baltic Sea Forces.
