history

The place (whose name is probably derived from the bears formerly to be found there or the personal name Bero derived from them ) probably originated in the eighth century. Obernzenn is documented as Cenne as early as 830/50 and could be the mother settlement for Unteraltenbernheim. In 1288 it was first mentioned by name as "Niederaltenbern". At that time it was a market town with a castle that belonged to the knight Ludwig von Huslode. The Teutonic Order , which Conrad IV of Nuremberg had given it as a gift, had owned it since 1294 . In 1381 there is evidence of a church in the village. Unteraltenbernheim was one of the first communities in the wider area to join the Reformation . In 1564, the von Huslodes sold the castle and its affiliations to Arnold von Seckendorff-Aberdar , who resided in Obernzenn . In 1737 it was sold to Christoph Friedrich von Seckendorff in Unternzenn .

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 46 properties in Unteraltenbernheim. The high court exercised the Obervogteiamt Virnsberg . The village and community rulership was held by the Teutonic Order Coming Virnsberg together with the company estate . The landlords were the Teutonic Order Coming Virnsberg (21 properties: church, rectory, sacristan's house, 2 mills, forge, tavern, 4 courtyards, 7 estates, 2 drip houses , Zehntstadtel), the Unterzenn manor (22 estates: castles, shepherd's house, tavern, 13 estates, 4 drip houses) and the parish Unteraltenbernheim (2 estates, 1 estate).

In 1806 Unteraltenbernheim came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, it was assigned to the Sondernohe tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Sondernohe , which was formed in 1811 . With the second community edict (1818), the rural community Unteraltenbernheim was formed, to which Binsmühle , Hechelbach , Hörhof , Limbach , Schafhof and Wimmelbach belonged. It was subject to the Ansbach Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and to the Ansbach Rent Office in the financial administration . On January 4, 1821, the rural community Unteraltenbernheim came to the District Court of Windsheim and the Ipsheim Rent Office . The voluntary jurisdiction and the police over 23 property had, however, until 1848, the patrimonial Unternzenn held. From 1862 Unteraltenbernheim was administered by the Uffenheim District Office (renamed the Uffenheim District in 1938 ) and from 1856 by the Windsheim Rent Office ( renamed Windsheim Tax Office in 1920 ). The jurisdiction remained with the District Court of Windsheim until 1879, from 1880 District Court of Windsheim . The municipality had an area of 10.013 km².

On May 1, 1978 Unteraltenbernheim was incorporated into Obernzenn as part of the regional reform .
