history

The place was first mentioned in a deed from the year 1294 as "Lympach" especially when Konrad IV. Of Nuremberg and his wife Agnes the Teutonic Order , the castle Virnsberg with Eingehörungen, including Limbach, over appropriated. The place originally consisted of three large courtyards. The Schafhof , which was first mentioned in 1509, belongs to the place .

At the end of the 18th century, Limbach and Hörhof formed a community. There were 12 properties in Limbach (2 courtyards, 4 half courtyards, 4 third courtyards, 1 sixth courtyard, sheep farm, community shepherd's house). The high court exercised the Obervogteiamt Virnsberg . The Teutonic Order Coming Virnsberg held the village and community rulership as well as the lordship over all properties .

As part of the municipal edict, Limbach was assigned to the Oberaltenbernheim tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Oberaltenbernheim formed in 1811 . With the second community edict (1818) it was re-incorporated into the newly formed rural community Unteraltenbernheim . On May 1, 1978 Limbach was incorporated into Obernzenn as part of the regional reform .
