history

In 1214 the place was first mentioned as "Vdelwarteshouin". The defining word is the personal name Udelwart, who can be seen as the founder of the settlement. Due to its favorable soil location, the place should have originated at the time of the Carolingians in the 8th or 9th century. This is also confirmed by the basic word “ -hofen ”, which was mainly in use at that time. In the document of 1214 it is confirmed that the pastor of Obernzenn at that time, Arnoldus Camerarius, gave the Gumbertus Foundation in Ansbach a piece of land he had bought in the said place. In 1393 the place is mentioned as "Ulberßoffen", in 1478 in a document as "Ulwertzhouen" and in another document as "Urpherzhoffen".

The church with the patronage of St. Jakobus and Nikolaus is a daughter church of St. Gertrud (Obernzenn) . Although it is partly in the Romanesque style of the 12th and 13th centuries, it was probably built later. Originally it is said to have been a pilgrimage church.

In the place, the family of donkeys from Illesheim, the Geiling, Windsheimer citizens and the gentlemen von Seckendorff were wealthy.

At the end of the 18th century there were 39 properties in Urphertshofen. The high court exercised the manor Obernzenn . The village and township government had the manors Obernzenn-Aberdar and Obernzenn-Gutend jointly hold. The landlords were the manor Obernzenn-Aberdar (17 properties: 1 courtyard, 2 half courtyards, 1 estate, 7 Köblersgüter , 6 houses), the manor Obernzenn-Gutend (18 properties: 2 courtyards, 10 estates, 6 houses) and both manors together ( Church, brickworks, Pottaschenhütte , 2 houses). In addition to the property, there was the school and shepherd's house, both of which were communal buildings.

In 1806 Urphertshofen came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict , the Urphertshofen tax district was formed in 1808 , to which the Straßenhof and Wessachhof belonged. In 1810 the rural community Urphertshofen was formed, which was congruent with the tax district. It was subject to the Leutershausen Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and to the Colmberg Rent Office for financial administration . However, until 1848 the patrimonial court Obernzenn -Aberdar held the voluntary jurisdiction over 19 properties , over 20 the patrimonial court Obernzenn-Gutend and over 5 properties both patrimonial courts. The local police were provided by both patrimonial courts. From 1862 Urphertshofen was administered by the district office of Ansbach , the jurisdiction remained with the district court of Ansbach until 1879. On January 1, 1880, Urphertshofen was reclassified to the Uffenheim district office (renamed the Uffenheim district in 1938 ). The financial administration was taken over by the Rentamt Windsheim (renamed the Finanzamt Windsheim in 1920 ), the jurisdiction was held by the District Court of Windsheim . The municipality had an area of 7.652 km².

In 1905 the Neuendettelsau Diakonissenanstalt built the “Waldheim” as a rest home, in which people with disabilities now live.

On January 1, 1974, Urphertshofen was incorporated into Obernzenn as part of the regional reform .
