history

1294 the place as "Obern Alltenbern" was first mentioned as Konrad IV. Of Nuremberg and his wife Agnes the Teutonic Order , the castle Virnsberg gave with Eingehörungen, including Oberaltenburg Bernheim. There was originally a castle in the village, which has since gone. In addition to the Teutonic Order, the Lords of Seckendorff and the imperial city of Windsheim were also wealthy.

At the end of the 18th century there were 18 properties in Oberaltenbernheim. The high court exercised the Obervogteiamt Virnsberg . The village and community rulership was held jointly by the Teutonic Order Coming Virnsberg with the manor Unternehmerzenn . The landlords were the Teutonic Order Coming Virnsberg (4 yards, 3 half yards, 1 mill, 1 community pastoral house) and the Unterzenn manor (1 three-quarter yard, 4 half yards, 3 third yards, 1 quarter yard).

In 1806 Oberaltenbernheim came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict , the Oberaltenbernheim tax district was formed in 1808 , to which Breitenau , Hechelbach , Limbach , Rappenau , Schafhof and Veitsmühle belonged. The rural community formed in 1811 was congruent with the tax district. It was subject to the Ansbach Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and to the Ansbach Rent Office in the financial administration . With the second community edict (1818), Brachbach and Esbach were re-ceded from the rural community of Sondernohe to Oberaltenbernheim, while Hechelbach, Limbach and Schafhof were re-ceded to Sondernohe. On January 4, 1821, the tax district and the rural community of Oberaltenbernheim came to the Windsheim district court and the Ipsheim rent office . The voluntary jurisdiction and the police over twelve property, however, had until 1848 the patrimonial Unternzenn held. From 1862 Oberaltenbernheim was administered by the Uffenheim District Office (renamed the Uffenheim District in 1938 ) and from 1856 by the Windsheim Rent Office ( renamed the Windsheim Tax Office in 1920 ). The jurisdiction remained with the District Court of Windsheim until 1879, from 1880 District Court of Windsheim . The municipality had an area of 10.776 km².

On January 1, 1972, Oberaltenbernheim was incorporated into Obernzenn as part of the regional reform .
