Esbach is a district of the Obernzenn market in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district in Middle Franconia .

geography

The hamlet is located on the Brachbach, which is a right tributary of the Zenn . The Brachberg ( 459  m above sea level ) rises about one kilometer southeast of the town . A communal road runs to Sondernohe to the district road AN 21 (2 km south-east) or past Brachbach to Obernzenn to state road 2253 (2.3 km west).

history

The place is mentioned in a deed from the year 1294 as "Espach" first name, as Konrad IV. Of Nuremberg and his wife Agnes the Teutonic Order , the castle Virnsberg with Eingehörungen, including Esbach, over appropriated.

Towards the end of the 18th century, Brachbach formed a community with Esbach. There were six properties in Esbach (2 courtyards, 2 half courtyards, 1 quarter courtyard, 1 Sölde ). The high court exercised the Obervogteiamt Virnsberg . The Teutonic Order Coming Virnsberg held the village and community rulership as well as the lordship over all properties .

As part of the community edict, Esbach was assigned to the Sondernohe tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Sondernohe , which was formed in 1811 . With the second community edict (1818) it was moved to Oberaltenbernheim . On January 1, 1972 Esbach was incorporated into Obernzenn as part of the regional reform .

The place remained Catholic even after the Reformation. The residents of the Evangelical Lutheran denomination are parish to St. Gertrud (Obernzenn) , the residents of the Roman Catholic denomination are parish after the Assumption of Mary (Sondernohe) .
