history

1294 the place as "Nidernczen" was first mentioned as Konrad IV. Of Nuremberg and his wife Agnes the Teutonic Order , the castle Virnsberg the Coming Virnsberg gave with Eingehörungen, including Unternzenn. There was a castle in the village that was owned by the von Seckendorff-Aberdar gentlemen .

At the end of the 18th century there were 28 properties in the company. The high court exercised the company manor to a limited extent. If necessary, it had to be delivered to the Ansbach court box office in Brandenburg-Ansbach . The manor Unternehmerzenn ruled the village and community . The landlords were the Unterzenn manor (24 properties: castle, inn, 2 mills, 7 estates, 3 estates, 10 drip houses ) and the community of Unternzenn (3 houses, school building). At that time, the Unterzenn manor belonged to the Barons von Seckendorff-Aberdar and was controlled by the knightly canton of Altmühl . It exercised the high court and the village and community rule over Egenhausen and Rosenbach . In Ober- and Unteraltenbernheim it was the ruler of the village together with the Teutonic Order Coming Virnsberg . In addition to the 24 properties in Unternzenn, it was also the landlord in Breitenau (1 property), Egenhausen (56), Ipsheim (2), Oberaltenbernheim (9), Rosenbach (11), Unteraltenbernheim (22).

In 1806 the company became part of the new Kingdom of Bavaria . In 1808, as part of the municipal edict , the company tax district was formed, to which Egenhausen , Hölzleinsmühle and Sichelbronn belonged. The rural community formed in 1810 was congruent with the tax district. It was subject to the Leutershausen Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and to the Colmberg Rent Office for financial administration . The voluntary jurisdiction and the police were held by the company patrimonial court until 1848 . With the second community edict (1818), the community was split into the rural communities Unternehmerzenn with Hölzleinsmühle and Egenhausen with Sichelbronn. From 1862 on, Unternzenn was administered by the Ansbach District Office and the Ansbach Rent Office. The jurisdiction remained with the district court Leutershausen until 1879. On January 1, 1880, Unternzenn came to the Uffenheim District Office (renamed the Uffenheim District in 1938 ) and the Windsheim Rent Office ( renamed the Windsheim Tax Office in 1920 ). The Windsheim District Court held jurisdiction . The municipality had an area of 1.858 km².

On January 1, 1978, in the course of the regional reform, the company was incorporated into Obernzenn.
