Jan Philippe Diddens (born September 14, 1906 in Mechelen , † July 31, 1972 ) was a Belgian football player .
career
Jan Diddens played throughout his senior career without exception for his hometown club Racing Club de Malines , which was later renamed KRC Mechelen. In 1929 and 1930 he was third in the first division of Belgium with this team .
From 1926 the attacker was also used in the Belgian national team. In 1928 he took part in the selection at the Summer Olympic Games in Amsterdam . The Belgians beat Luxembourg 5-3 in the round of 16 and lost to Argentina 3-6 in the quarter-finals. Diddens played in both games, but remained without a hit and consequently could not prevent the early elimination.
Two years later he was called up to the Belgian squad at the first World Cup in Uruguay . Belgium lost the group matches against the United States 3-0 and against Paraguay 0-1. Diddens was on the starting line-up in both games. After this tournament he was no longer nominated for the national team.
