List of countries by unemployment rate
The following list of countries by unemployment rate sorts countries according to the proportion of workers who are unemployed in a specified period. As unemployment , the state is generally described in a national economy the labor supply exceeds the demand for labor at the prevailing conditions and thus can not find a job all people. However, national statistics can define unemployment differently.
The global unemployment rate is estimated by the CIA for 2017 at 7.7%. The underemployment rate is estimated at up to 30%.
Ranking list
Countries and territories by unemployment rate at the last determinable point in time. The information comes from the World Bank and, in individual cases, from the CIA World Fact Book or other sources and is largely based on data from the International Labor Organization (ILO).
The unemployment rate does not necessarily have to reflect the development and prosperity of an economy. In some countries with low unemployment, the vast majority of the workforce works in agriculture or for very low wages.
For Germany, unemployment is given according to the international definition of the ILO. This figure therefore deviates from the German definition of the Federal Statistical Office .
