Christian August Buhle

Christian August Buhle (born July 13, 1734 in Grebehna ; † November 27, 1807 in Braunschweig ) was a German natural scientist , court and hospital surgeon and surgeon .

Life

He was born as the son of the manor owner Johann Gottlieb Buhle and Maria Rosina nee. Graul was born in Grebehna and baptized on the same day because there was fear of infant death. He survived and after attending school he went to apprenticeship with the office surgeon Zweymaxn in Leipzig.

In 1757 he joined the Prussian army as a surgeon and took part in the Battle of Roßbach , in which he treated numerous wounded. In 1759 he said goodbye to military service and went to Hamburg, where he worked as a surgeon until 1761. He moved to Braunschweig. There he was appointed court surgeon to the Duke of Braunschweig and the chief surgeon of the town hospital in 1770. He also worked as a naturalist and medical writer. He died on November 27, 1807. He named his son Johann Gottlieb Buhle after his grandfather.
