Christian Bærentsen

Christian Bærentsen (born May 14, 1862 in Tórshavn , Faroe Islands , † January 6, 1944 in Copenhagen ) was Governor of the Faroe Islands from 1897 to 1911 .

Career

Christian was the son of Anne Cathrine Jacobine Pauline, b. Kiergaard, from Tórshavn and Enok Daniel Bærentsen . He was married to Anna Dorothea Maria, geb. Kock, from Tórshavn. Together they had the daughter Inger (1902-1996).

After graduating from high school in 1880, he took his legal exam in 1886 and worked at the Frederiksberg Commune . 1889-1897 he was at the Ministry of Justice in Copenhagen. In 1897 Bærentsen went back to the Faroe Islands to hold the office of governor there (until 1911). In this capacity he was also chairman of the Løgting . 1902–1906 he was also a member of the Danish Landsting . After that he was a judge at the Eastern District Court in Denmark until his death.
