Christian Bäumler

Christian Gottfried Heinrich Baeumler (also Christian Bäumler ; born May 13, 1836 in Buchau ; † November 21, 1933 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German physician and director of the medical clinic in Freiburg im Breisgau.

Life

Christian Baeumler studied medicine at several universities and received his doctorate from the University of Erlangen in 1860 . From 1863 to 1866 he was a general practitioner at the “German Hospital” in London , from 1866 to 1872 a general practitioner in London and a doctor at the “German Hospital” and at the “Hospital for Diseases of the Chest”.

In 1870, Baeumler published an English translation of Felix von Niemeyer's clinical lectures on pulmonary consumption as "Clinical lectures on pulmonary consumption".

In the fall of 1876 he became professor and director of the medical clinic in Freiburg im Breisgau.

Baeumler was Real Privy Councilor and retired in 1909 .

He was a member of the Markomannia fraternity. In 1866 Baeumler became a member and in 1878 a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London. On January 12, 1893, he was elected a member ( matriculation no. 3011 ) of the Leopoldina .

Christian Baeumler was an honorary member of the German Athenaeum Association in London . In 1909 he became an honorary citizen of the city of Freiburg im Breisgau.
