Felix Niemeyer , from 1870 by Niemeyer , (born December 31, 1820 in Magdeburg , † March 14, 1871 in Tübingen ) was a German physician and royal Württemberg physician .

Life

Niemeyer came from an originally Westphalian , later Göttingen family. His father was the doctor Karl Eduard Niemeyer (1792–1838), his grandfather the theologian August Hermann Niemeyer and his brother the doctor Paul Niemeyer .

From 1839 to 1843 Niemeyer studied medicine at the University of Halle . He then became an assistant to Peter Krukenberg there . After studying in Prague and Vienna with Carl von Rokitansky , he became a poor doctor in Magdeburg in 1844 . Together with Theodor Sendler (1819–1896), Karl Schneider and Franz Bette (1821–1900) he founded the Medical Society in Magdeburg on March 29, 1848 .

In 1855 he was appointed full professor for internal medicine at the University of Greifswald and in 1860 at the University of Tübingen and became royal Württemberg physician.

With the award of the Knight's Cross Order of the Württemberg Crown in 1870, Niemeyer was raised to the Württemberg personal nobility . Only his widow and son, the diplomat Felix Niemeyer , were raised to the hereditary nobility of Württemberg on August 7, 1873 .
