Carl von Liebermeister
Carl von Liebermeister (born February 2, 1833 in Ronsdorf (now part of Wuppertal ), † November 24, 1901 in Tübingen ) was a German internist .
Life
Liebermeister studied in Bonn , Würzburg , Greifswald and Berlin , especially with Rudolf Virchow and Felix von Niemeyer . In 1856 he received his doctorate in Greifswald. From 1860 he worked in Tübingen, where he became an associate professor in 1864. From 1865 to 1871 he was Professor of Pathology and Director of the Medical Clinic in Basel , after which he was Professor in Tübingen.
Liebermeister is known for his work on the pathophysiology of fever and research into antipyretic measures, including hydrotherapy. Its name is associated with the relationship between the pulse rate and the temperature of the febrile body. The Liebermeister rule states that in adult fever curves, the pulse beats increase at a rate of around eight beats per minute for every degree Celsius. In 1887 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .

Honors
- Knight's Cross of the first class: in 1877 the Order of the Württemberg Crown , which with the personal title of nobility ( ennoblement was connected)
- 1889: Commentary cross, second class of the Order of Frederick
- 1891: Commentary Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown
- According to the design by the sculptor Hermann Lang , a monument with the doctor's marble bust was erected on the building of the Munich University Hospital in 1903 ; the original portrait bust was shown a year later at the first annual exhibition of the German Association of Artists in the Munich Kgl. Art exhibition building exhibited on Königsplatz .
