Christian Bembenek

Christian Bembenek (born January 12, 1967 ) is a former German basketball player . The 2.08 meter tall indoor player played for SG Braunschweig in the basketball league and played two international A matches for Germany.

career

Bembenek comes from the youth work of SG Braunschweig. He took part in the 1986 European Championship with the German Basketball Federation's national team and in the 1987 World Championship. With the men's team of SG Braunschweig he rose in 1987 to the 2nd basketball league . The 1987/88 season was finished in sixth place in the table, but Bembenek rose with his team in the basketball league , as the ASC Göttingen announced its departure from the league and all other candidates waived. In the Bundesliga season 1988/89 he remained without a win with Braunschweig in 28 games, so the Lower Saxony immediately relegated to the second division.

In 1991 Bembenek and Braunschweig reached the final of the DBB Cup as a second division club , but had to admit defeat to Bayer Leverkusen . Nevertheless, in this way they qualified for the European Cup Winners' Cup. In the same year he returned to the 1st Bundesliga. 1991 was also the year in which he played in two friendly matches for the German senior national team. After moving to MTV Wolfenbüttel , Bembenek returned to SG Braunschweig in 1994, when the team had just been relegated from the top German division. In 1995 it was again promoted to the first division.

Following his competitive sports career , Bembenek worked for the Volkswagen Group .
