Christian Berrenrath

Christian Berrenrath (born March 10, 1857 in Bachem ; † January 1, 1941 in Cologne ) was an official in the Archdiocese of Cologne .

After studying theology in Rome, he was ordained a priest there on October 28, 1884 . Active as a subsidiary in Hilden from December 17, 1886 , he was appointed rector of the Franziskus Hospital in Cologne-Ehrenfeld on December 13, 1887 and already on April 6, 1888 President of the Collegium Josephinum in Bad Münstereifel , a boys' convict of the Archdiocese of Cologne. From October 1, 1889 to the spring of 1929, Berrenrath was also active as a seminar professor for dogmatics and moral theology .

Archbishop Philippus Krementz called him on August 21, 1912 to the sub-rain at the Cologne seminary , where he became President on March 19, 1914 . Raised papal house prelate on January 29, 1915 , Archbishop Felix von Hartmann also appointed him to prosynodal judge on August 26, 1918.

On April 4, 1921, the Dr. theol. et phil. Berrenrath earned his doctorate as Cologne canon and was appointed deputy official on August 28, 1926 by Archbishop Karl Joseph Schulte . After he resigned as president of the seminary in the spring of 1929, he was appointed vicariate general on May 6, 1929 and official on April 14, 1930, from which he was released on November 24, 1937.
