Christian Claaßen (born May 22, 1969 in Barßel ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

In 1990 Christian Claaßen moved from his youth club VfL Oldenburg to VfB Oldenburg within Oldenburg. Here he played for three years in the 2nd Bundesliga until he moved to SV Wilhelmshaven in 1993 . In 1995 he was signed by Bundesliga club Hamburger SV, where he was only substituted five times in the first half of the 1995/96 season . From November 1995 the SV Meppen was his new club. For the 1998/99 season Claaßen went to VfL Osnabrück , where he played for the next six years and had his most successful time. In 2001 he was voted Lower Saxony's Footballer of the Year . After 62 goals for Osnabrück, he returned to Meppen in 2004. Claassen's first station was also his last: From 2007 he played again for VfL Oldenburg , with his brother Frank as coach. In 2008 he ended his career.
