Christian Dickinger

Christian Dickinger (born November 22, 1970 in Gmunden ; † August 31, 2021 ) was an Austrian political scientist , historical researcher, non-fiction author and local politician .

Career

Christian Dickinger studied among other things. Political Science at the University of Vienna and graduated in 1999 with a doctorate (Institute for Political Science). He was a functionary of the SPÖ and deputy mayor of his hometown Gmunden. In 2015, Dickinger ran for the SPÖ as mayoral candidate in Gmunden and came third, 11% behind the FPÖ candidate (12.9%) and the ÖVP candidate (68.5%).

Dickinger published several books on the history and politics of Austria and was known for his critical examination of the Habsburg and Wittelsbach dynasties , which was committed to the claim of “ demythicising ” . He dealt with the history of religion and mythography , wrote satires and poems.

Christian Dickinger died after a short, serious illness at the age of 50.
