Christian Ewert

Christian Ewert (born April 11, 1935 in Stuttgart , † August 24, 2006 in Madrid ) was a German building researcher and art historian , his specialty was Islamic architecture.

Christian Ewert worked for many years as a building researcher in the Madrid department of the German Archaeological Institute . He was one of the most distinguished connoisseurs of West Islamic (Spanish and North African) architecture. He also taught at the University of Bonn as a professor in the seminar for oriental art history. Every two years he held block seminars there.

Ewert was a member of the German Archaeological Institute and the Ernst Herzfeld Society .
