Christian Füchtbauer
Christian Füchtbauer (born February 24, 1877 in Nuremberg ; † September 12, 1959 in Gauting ) was a German experimental physicist and university professor.
Career
Füchtbauer studied from 1895 to 1903 in Munich and Leipzig, where he was a student of Wilhelm Ostwald . In 1904 he did his doctorate in Leipzig with the work The voluntary solidification of supercooled liquids . His habilitation took place in 1907 with the work generation of secondary rays by canal and cathode rays and reflection of canal rays . In the same year Füchtbauer became a private lecturer in Würzburg. In 1916 he took up an extraordinary professorship in Tübingen. As an associate professor, he was dependent on the professor, Friedrich Paschen , and was therefore unable to freely decide on the use of instruments and was therefore referred to the field of "mathematical physics", like his predecessors Karl Waitz (1853–1911), Richard Gans and Edgar Meyer . In 1922 Füchtbauer became a full professor in Rostock and finally moved to Bonn in 1935, where he taught until his retirement.
He published his research work a. a. in the “ Annalen der Physik ”, the “ Physikalische Zeitschrift ” and the “Zeitschrift für Physik”.
His son Hans Füchtbauer was a geologist.
