Life

As the son of the Kiel wine merchant Hans Christian Nicolaus Gänge and his wife Anmaline geb. Hansen he first made an apprenticeship as a pharmacist in Altona . In 1853 he began studying chemistry at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . In 1856 he became an assistant in the chemical laboratory and a member of the Corps Holsatia . In 1858 he passed the pharmaceutical state examination and went to the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , which made him Dr. phil. PhD . Temporarily back in Kiel and head of a technical-chemical factory in Berlin , he became the owner of the old town pharmacy in Itzehoe . He sold the pharmacy in Altona, bought in 1867, in 1875 to devote himself to practical and theoretical work in Jena. In 1878 he completed his habilitation in Jena. In June 1890 he became a corps bow bearer of Thuringia Jena . He received the ribbon in 1905.

On May 13, 1869, he married Agnes Aurelie Auguste Jacobs in Hildburghausen (born September 5, 1847 in Camburg , † September 11, 1906 in Jena). She was a daughter of the later Higher Appeal Judge for Jena Oscar Wilhelm August Jacobs and Aurelie Pauline Therese Becker from Schinditz . The marriage resulted in three daughters: Camilla († with 18 years), Maria in Berlin and Mathilde († with 8 years). One picture can be found in the Jacobs family archive in Unna .
