Christian Gaehde

Christian Helmut Paul Wilhelm Gaehde (born June 30, 1875 in Schwerin , † May 30, 1954 in 's-Gravenhage ) was a German theater scholar and literary historian.

After attending the secondary school in Dresden , he went to the University of Leipzig , where he studied German and new philology. With a thesis on John Wolcot he received his doctorate in 1899 for Dr. phil. He specialized in theater history and especially Shakespeare . He chose Dresden as the center of his life, where he worked as a German teacher at Nolden's girls' grammar school. Here he was appointed professor.
