Christian Gottlieb Pfretzschner

Christian Gottlieb Pfretzschner (born August 6, 1797 in Adorf / Vogtl. , † February 6, 1861 in Plauen ) was a German educator and politician.

Life

Pfretzschner was the son of a tanner from Adorf. After completing his school education in Adorf and Plauen, he studied ancient languages at the University of Leipzig with Professor Gottfried Hermann and obtained his doctorate. phil. After taking over the Saxon civil service, he became a teacher at the Lyceeum in Plauen, vice-rector of the grammar school in 1835 and finally also director of the Royal Saxon trade and construction school in 1836. A list of books published by his deceased library in 1862 gives a good insight into his humanistic educational standards.

Due to his general popularity, he was elected as a member of the Saxon Vogtlandkreis in the Saxon state parliament in Dresden. Here he mainly campaigned for the economic development of his home district. In 1854, Plauen thanked him for his great commitment by being made an honorary citizen .

Pfretzschner married Johanne Christiane Forbriger in Plauen in 1821, with whom he had nine children. The oldest of these children was Christian Robert Pfretzschner , who later became the organist of the Kreuz .
