Christian Höbart

Christian Höbart (born June 9, 1975 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician from the HC Strache team . From October 2008 to October 2019 he was a member of the Austrian National Council for the FPÖ . Höbart has been General Secretary of the HC Strache - Allianz für Österreich team since May 15, 2020.

education and profession

Höbart graduated from elementary school and a secondary school in Baden near Vienna from the Höhere Technische Lehranstalt (HTL) Mödling and graduated in 1994 in industrial engineering . He then did his military service in the Austrian Armed Forces . Höbart then worked as a technical and commercial clerk at an industrial company before taking on sales positions at information technology groups such as Software AG and Oracle . From 2007 to 2011, Höbart was a member of the executive board of an information technology company.

In mid-2011 Höbart founded a company and is active as a management consultant in the field of "sales and marketing optimization". In addition, he is an announcement entrepreneur and, together with his business partner, offers permanent outdoor advertising positions for advertising customers throughout Austria.

Political career

Höbart exercises or exercised various functions within the FPÖ from the end of 2004. In 2007 he took over the agendas of the FPÖ district group Mödling as district party chairman, and in mid-2012 he was also elected local party chairman in his home community Guntramsdorf.

In 2008, Höbart was elected to the National Council for the first time in the 2008 National Council election through the federal election proposal. He was sworn in on October 28, 2008 in Parliament. Höbart became youth spokesman for the FPÖ and was a member of the committees for business and industry , science, research and innovation , family affairs and sports affairs . After the National Council election in 2013, Höbart was re-elected to the National Council via the state election proposal submitted by the FPÖ Lower Austria, the inauguration of his second term took place on October 29, 2013. Höbart's parliamentary committee memberships have remained unchanged with one exception. Instead of being a member of the family committee, Höbart is now active in the committee for "Citizens' Initiatives and Petitions".

After the state election in Lower Austria on March 3, 2013, where the FPÖ Lower Austria lost around 2.3 percent and dropped to 8.2 percent, Höbart joined the FPÖ Lower Austria on June 11, 2013 after a week-long “change and optimization process” elected at a meeting of the provincial party leadership as the successor to Barbara Rosenkranz as the new executive provincial party chairman of the FPÖ Lower Austria and formed a dual leadership with Walter Rosenkranz , who a few days earlier at an extraordinary regional party conference of the FPÖ Lower Austria on June 9, 2013 as the new provincial party chairman of the FPÖ Lower Austria was elected.

On May 15, 2020 he announced his transfer to Team HC Strache - Allianz for Austria . There he becomes Secretary General.

Controversy

In 2012, Höbart attracted media attention with a proposal. So he proposed a "trial detention" for juvenile offenders. According to Höbart, young people from abroad are primarily responsible for the steep rise in juvenile delinquency. Thereupon the board of the youth judges 'group in the judges' association announced that Höbart's thesis has not been empirically proven. Höbart received widespread public criticism in autumn 2014 after he described asylum seekers housed in the initial reception center in Traiskirchen as “earth and cave people” on Facebook . In August 2018 he held three Moroccan asylum seekers, whom he alleged theft, in a supermarket. The police called for help could not find any theft. Höbart nevertheless subsequently claimed on Facebook that he had caught shoplifters.

Höbart is divorced and has two children.
