Christian Heldt

Christian Heldt (born April 8, 1963 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German diplomat . He was ambassador to Kosovo from September 2017 to June 2020 .

Life

Christian Heldt studied history , political science and international law in Bonn and Paris from 1985 to 1991 after graduating from high school and two years in the Bundeswehr and graduated with a Magister Artium in Paris (1989) and a Magister Artium in Bonn (1991).

Heldt is married and has four children. Since 1983 he has been a member of the Corps Hansea Bonn .

career

Christian Heldt joined the Foreign Service in 1991 and completed the preparatory service for the higher foreign service by 1993. His first foreign assignments took him to the embassies in Moscow (1993–1996) and Tel Aviv (1996–1999). After three years in the Foreign Office, he joined the French Foreign Ministry as an exchange officer in 2002.

In 2007 Heldt returned to Berlin and worked in the Foreign Office until 2008, then (2008–2010) as a political advisor in the Ministry of Defense and from 2010 to 2013 as Head of Division in the Foreign Office.

In 2013 Christian Heldt became permanent representative at the embassy to the Holy See . He stayed there until 2017 and was then sent as an ambassador to Kosovo , based in Pristina , where he stayed until mid-2020.
