Christian Heuchel

Christian Heuchel (* 1966 ) is a German architect , artist and university professor .

Career

Heuchel studied architecture at the University of Karlsruhe from 1987 to 1995 . From 1997 to 2000 he completed the postgraduate course in architecture at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Josef Paul Kleihues , Laurids Ortner and Elia Zenghelis . He became a master student of Ernst Kasper and graduated with honors. Since 2000 he has been an employee at O&O Baukunst . In 2006 he took over the management of the Cologne office and has been a partner of O&O Baukunst Berlin / Cologne / Vienna since 2011.

Teaching activities

From 1992 to 1996 Heuchel worked in Karlsruhe as a research assistant at the Institute for Fine Arts at the Faculty of Architecture under Hans Martin Erhardt and from 1995 to 1996 as a research assistant at the chair for building theory and design by Jo Coenen / Neave Brown at the Faculty of Architecture in the area of publication, documentation and design. Since 2000 he has been teaching art and architecture at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in the postgraduate course “Architecture”, where he is responsible for the “Table Talks” series. Since 2004 he has also worked as a guest lecturer at various universities, including the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences and the University of Basel.

OFF initiatives

In 1991, Heuchel and the artist Gunter Klag founded the artist office “bureau Heuchel Klag” (bHK) with headquarters in Bellheim. From 1999 to 2002 the bHK held regular seminars on the subject of “Art and Architecture” at the Kunsthaus bHK.

In 1999, Heuchel founded the architectural association “rheinflügel Baukunst” with six graduates from the architecture class of the Düsseldorf Art Academy. From 1999 to 2006 the group realized numerous art and construction projects, such as B. the renovation of the Düsseldorf art gallery.

Memberships

Heuchel has been a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists (Rhineland-Palatinate) since 1998. In 2001 he was accepted into the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Architects and appointed to the Association of German Architects in 2011. In 2011 he received the Austrian civil engineering license. Since 2015 he has been a member of the advisory committee “Framework Planning Munich Freiham”. He is also a member of the German Institute for Urban Architecture (Technical University of Dortmund).
