Christian Hipman

Christian Hipman , also written Hipmann and Hippmann (* December 21, 1585 , † August 8, 1639 ) was the mayor of Stettin .

Christian Hipman's father was the silk merchant Andreas Hipman, his mother was Barbara Lambert. In his first marriage he married Ursula Küsel in 1612 († August 16, 1620 in Stettin). After her death he married Elisabeth Hermann (* 1605; † December 3, 1637) in the Nikolaikirche in 1621 . Finally, after her death, he married Maria Vosberg in 1638, the widow of his brother-in-law Michael Küsel († 1630).

Christian Hipman was councilor from 1618 as well as chamberlain and bulwark in Stettin . In his function as one of the two bulwark lords, he was responsible for the observance of the bulwark order - regulations on the trade in salted fish, tar and some other goods, on the loading and unloading of ships and on the official duties of the market master, the bridgehead and the Tree closers - responsible. In August 1629 he negotiated together with Paul Friedeborn in Copenhagen with success about the exemption from duties with the Danes, who held the Ruden and levied duties there.

In 1634, after the death of Samuel Rochlitz, he became mayor of Stettin and remained in office until 1639.

He died in 1639. His funeral sermon was given by Martin Leuschner , the rector of the Szczecin Pedagogy. It appeared in print and has survived.
