Christian Jenssen

Christian Jenssen (born March 2, 1905 in Krefeld ; † August 16, 1996 in Eutin ) was a teacher and freelance writer (narrator, biographer, essayist) and editor.

Act

After studying German and pedagogy, Jenssen worked as an editor, art critic and lecturer in Cologne until 1934. Afterwards Jenssen lived in Eutin as a community college director and freelance writer. There, Jenssen joined the Nazi- dominated Eutiner poet circle and took over for this issue of the almanac Eutin, five volumes have been published by the 1936-1940 total. His writings include biographies about the shipowner Albert Ballin (1929), the president of the National Socialist Chamber of Literature Hans Friedrich Blunck (1935), about the playwright and poet Friedrich Hebbel (1950), books about masters of music (Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert ) as well as life images and life paths of German women.

After the end of the Second World War, Jenssen's writings were German Seal in the Mirror of Literary Stories (together with Hellmuth Langenbucher ; List, Leipzig 1936), German Seal of the Present ( Teubner , Leipzig 1938), Hans Friedrich Blunck (Hanseatische Verlags-Anstalt, Hamburg 1942) and The German Glocke (Gauverlag Bayerische Ostmark, Bayreuth 1942), which he published together with Hans Reyhing , was placed on the list of literature to be sorted out.

In 1969 Jenssen published an essay about Fritz Reuter in the almanac of the Fritz Reuter Society ("Fritz Reuter as a master of memory poetry"). As the successor to Friedrich Griese , Jenssen was President of the Fritz Reuter Society from 1963 to 1968. Since 1949 he has been a member of the German Academy for Language and Poetry .

Jenssen was a multiple winner of the Friedrich Hebbel Prize (1954, 1955, 1957, 1958).
