Christian Johann von Schönberg

Christian Johann von Schönberg , contemporary Christian Hans von Schönberg , (born June 15/25, 1608 in Dresden ; † January 9/19, 1672 in Budissin ) was an electoral Saxon Privy Councilor and state elder of Upper Lusatia as well as the owner of a manor .

Life

He came from the Saxon noble family von Schönberg and was the son of Wolf Georg von Schönberg (1567-1619) and his wife Margaretha nee von Dieskau from the house of Finsterwalde and Loschau († 1641).

His father died early in Pulsnitz . At that time, Christian Johann von Schönberg was only 11 years old. Like many of his family members, he embarked on an administrative career in the service of the Wettins . He went to the court in Dresden , where he rose to the position of the Privy Council. After Upper and Lower Lusatia fell to the Electorate of Saxony through the Peace of Prague in 1635, Christian Johann von Schönberg became State Elder of Upper Lusatia in Bautzen (Budissin).

In 1652 Christian Johann von Schönberg acquired the Lohsa manor .

The funeral sermon given by Bautzen Pastor Daniel Römer on the occasion of his solemn funeral appeared in print at Christoph Baumann's in Bautzen.

He left behind Johann Christian von Schönberg (1640–1692) as the son and heir.
