Christian Kill (born January 17, 1991 ) is a Luxembourg table tennis player and coach. He is one of the top 10 best table tennis players from Luxembourg.

Career

In 2019 he became Luxembourg national champion in singles for the first time. He beat 4 Luxembourg national players, namely Luka Mladenovic, Eric Glod , Traian ciociu and Marc Diliesen . The semi-final against Eric Glod was particularly exciting, as he won the decisive set with 22-20. That is why he was called back to the Luxembourg national team in 2019. He had already won the title in doubles with Eric Glod in 2017.

For the 2018/19 season he moved from DT Dudelange, after more than 20 years, to the second division team DT Linger in National 2. There he played with Yves Tonon , Gavray Dirck and Igor Tkalec . You lost both relegation games for the BDO TT League just in the decision doubles. That's why they will attack again in the National 2 for the 2019/20 season. There he also acts as a youth coach.

The first team's squad has changed slightly for the 2019/20 season. Yves Tonon will no longer play for the first team for private reasons. He is Arlindo De Sousa replaced, which comes from the National 1 from DT Iechternach. He used to be a Luxembourg international. Igor Tkalec left the club and went to Italy for personal reasons. The roster of the 1st team consists of the number one Christian Kill, Arlindo De Sousa and Dirck Gavray . 4th place is shared by several players.

He qualified with the national team for the European Championship in Nantes in 2019 . In the crucial game against Finland , they won 3-2 after trailing 1-2. He played with Eric Glod , Gilles Michely and Marc Dielisen.

At the European team championships, where he narrowly qualified with the team, they went in as clear outsiders. In the group they encountered Belarus and England. In the first game against England they lost 1-3. Only the material specialist Luka Mladenovic could win against Tom Jarvis. In the second game against Belarus they clearly lost 0-3. There Christian Kill was able to prove himself for the first time at this EM. He lost 1-3 against Aliaksandr Khanin . With this they reach the 17th place at this European championship.

Christian took part in the Polish Open, a Challenge Series tournament . For the first time he had to assert himself in the group. There he appeared very positively. At the beginning he lost just under against the Serbian Aleksa Gacev (WR: 444), who is stronger in the world rankings, with 2-3. After that he clearly won against the strongest in the group, the Mexican Ricardo Villa (WR: 236) with 3-0. He just qualified for the main field. There he got to do it with the Poland Marek Badowski (WR: 83). He lost after strong resistance with 2-4. Christian also competed in doubles with Gilles Michely. They clearly lost the first game with 0-3 against the young Poles Maciej Kubik (WR: 522) and Samuel Kulczycki (WR: 436). The Polish Open ended without a medal for him.

Christian Kill won bronze in the individual at the Luxembourg national championships in 2020. He lost the semifinals to Luka Mladenovic Mladenovic ( 1. FC Mainz ) 4-2. In doubles he won gold with his team-mate Yves Tonon. They won the final against Arlindo de Sousa (also a teammate) and Evgheni Dadechin ( DT Eiter-Waldbredimus ) In mixed he also won bronze with Carole Hartmann (DT Echternach).

Due to the corona crisis, all gaming operations in Luxembourg were suspended. Christian Kill and his team are currently in 2nd place in the 2nd league, National 2nd. According to the FLTT, no promotion or relegation is played out. Therefore, one can assume that his team will also serve in the National 2 for the new 2020/21 season. The weakened club DT Linger can forget the dream of promotion to the first division again this year.

history

Christian Kill's sporting career began at the age of 6 when he started playing football . After several injuries, he changed the sport and tried table tennis . A short time later he became a passionate table tennis player. At the age of 7 he played his first official competitive games with DT Diddeleng and later he joined the national team. In the following years he met many new coaches , which enabled him to develop steadily.

He had long since decided to give up his job as an accounting clerk and devote himself entirely to table tennis. He had already worked as a coach for 2 years . In addition, he got positive feedback from several players. When the demand as a trainer increased, he decided to become an independent table tennis trainer and turn his hobby into a profession.
