General

The trained bricklayer and civil engineer Christian Kläner comes from a fistball family in Lower Saxony. At the age of six the defender was already on the field for the gymnastics club "Gut Heil" Brettorf , one of the well-known clubs in the Oldenburg area. Kläner played with TV Brettorf in the field as well as during the indoor season in the northern relay of the fistball Bundesliga and was a regular guest at the finals of the German championship from 2002 to 2017.

Career

The former captain of the German national fistball team already played in the youth field for German national teams and won the European Championship title with the U18 in 2000 and 2001. At his first European championship in 2004 in Neuendorf , he immediately became Vice European Champion. This year he also made his international debut against the Swiss at the international tournament in Jona (Switzerland). After a dry spell of six years (bronze WG 2005, bronze WM 07 and two European championship bronze in 2008 and 2010), he won the biggest title of his career in 2011. In front of 7,500 spectators, he won the world championship title against the then defending champion and host Austria in a thrilling final 4-2. After another bronze medal at the EM 2012 in Schweinfurt, Bavaria, another major international title followed in 2013 when he won the World Games in Cali (Colombia). At the 2014 European Championships in Olten, he led the German national fistball team as captain to the European championship. In 2015 he defended the world championship in Argentina with the national team without losing a set in the entire tournament. After winning the title, he ended his career in the German national fistball team.

At his hometown club, the TV "Gut Heil" Brettorf, he was indispensable until 2017. From 2002 he was represented at almost all German championships. He won his first national title in 2003 at the German Championship (Halle). Another followed in 2004 in front of a home crowd (2004) against Bayer Leverkusen. In the field season 2016 and the indoor season 2016/17 he was player-trainer for TV Brettorf.
