Neuendorf is a municipality in the Gäu district in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland . It is located south of the foot of the Jura in the thin plain . Neuendorf has an intact village center and has retained its rural character. The industrial area with various logistics companies is clearly separated from the village north of the A1 motorway .
history
The history of Neuendorf begins with the first mention of the hamlet of Werthe around 1100. West of the village was the hamlet of Kipf , which is listed in a document from 1308 in connection with a tenth of a day . In the years 1400 to 1600, all three names - Kipf, Werd and Nüwendorf - are read side by side. Probably new houses were built east of Kipf, along the brook, which were called the "nüwe village" as the new part of the village. This name prevailed, so that from 1600 only the name Neuendorf is mentioned in the documents. In 1654, a large conflagration in the upper village destroyed 40 thatched houses (firs) and the village church, which had only been rebuilt three years earlier. The second big fire in 1767 again cremated 12 houses and 16 barns.
