Christian Ludwig (doctor)

Christian Ludwig (also Christianus Ludwig ; born May 17, 1749 in Leipzig ; † February 25, 1784 in Leipzig) was a German doctor and pharmacist .

Life

Ludwig was the son of the Leipzig doctor and botanist Christian Gottlieb Ludwig (1709–1773). He studied medicine in Leipzig and completed his studies in 1772 with a master's degree in philosophy . In 1774 he received his doctorate in medicine. He then traveled, as was customary at the time for further training, to various centers and people of science and medicine through Germany , France and England . In Leipzig he then gave lectures in physics . Ludwig is best known for his translations of Joseph Priestley's Experiments and Observations on Various Kinds of Air and John Elliot's Physiological Observations on the Senses .
