Christian Ludwig Ziegler

Christian Ludwig Ziegler (born October 6, 1748 in Blender (Verden district) , † June 18, 1818 ) was a builder.

Life

The son of pastor Johann Heinrich Ziegler and Eleonore Sophie, b. Brockhusen, initially trained as a craftsman, and after receiving a scholarship in 1769 he studied mathematics and architecture in Göttingen until Easter 1773. He went on several study trips abroad.

In 1773 he became agricultural manager, in 1778 agricultural administrator for the Principality of Lüneburg, the Duchy of Lauenburg and the County of Dannenberg and rose to the position of Oberlandbaurat until 1816. 1802-1818 he was also court architect in Celle.

His successor was Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Mithoff (1766-1852).

Works

A part of Christian Ludwig Ziegler's drawing legacy was recently rediscovered in the Peine City Archives.

  • 1782–1788, Ziegler created a new building for the Medingen monastery , which was the only building of his larger designs to be realized.
