Blender is a municipality in the Thedinghausen municipality in the Verden district in Lower Saxony . The municipality extends over an area of ​​38.31 km² .

In addition to the town of Blender, the towns of Adolfshausen , Amedorf , Einste , Gahlstorf, Hiddestorf , Holtum-Marsch , Intschede , Oiste , Reer, Ritzenbergen, Seestedt, Varste and Winkel belong to the municipality.

Nature reserve east of the center of Blender is the 6.3 hectare lake Blender . It extends in a north-south direction, is approx. 1000 m long, a maximum of 100 m wide and has been a nature reserve since 1936 . On a 50 m long section there is a swimming area with a jetty and diving tower.

history

The oldest place in the parish is Oiste, which is mentioned in 860. Ritzenbergen and Amedorf are mentioned in documents in 935. The first historical mention of Blender occurs in 1186 as blender . Other old towns are Intschede, which is mentioned as early as 1124, and Hiddestorf, which is mentioned for the first time in 1179.

The affiliation of the localities to offices and districts changed. Some of the villages belonged to County Hoya , to Verden or to Schwarme .

There are a total of three Protestant churches in the Blender parish. They belong to the Evangelical Church in Hanover and have been united in a pastoral office since 1970, but still independent.

  • Ev.-luth. Blender parish: The parish was founded in 1126. The Reformation was introduced after 1558. Today's church was built between 1825 and 1827 by Ludwig Hellner . The baroque west tower dates from 1764.
  • Ev.-luth. Intschede community: The community was founded in 1120. The introduction of the Reformation only happened in 1574 when the last Catholic pastor Wolterus Bornemann died. Today's St. Michaelis Church in Intschede was consecrated in 1819 after the old church had to be demolished due to its dilapidation.
  • Ev.-luth. Community of Oiste: Oiste was originally a branch church of Wechold . In 1420 a church building was mentioned for the first time. From 1936 to 1953/57, Oiste was the seat of the regional superintendent of the Verden-Hoya district of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church of Hanover . The current church dates from 1832 and was designed by Friedrich August Ludwig Hellner .
