Christian Müller (sports official)

Christian Müller (born October 19, 1963 in Cologne ) is a German sports official , lecturer and author for sports management. Müller became known in specialist circles as managing director for licensing and finances at the Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH (DFL). He is currently a member of the practical advisory board for sports management at the SRH Hochschule Heidelberg .

Life

Müller completed an apprenticeship as a banker and studied business management in Freiburg, Paris and Cologne from 1985 to 1991 .

From 1992 to 1993, Müller was assistant to the board of directors and head of the 1. FC Köln office .

Between 1996 and 1999 he was a research assistant at the Faculty of Economics at the Technical University of Bergakademie Freiberg .

From 2001 to 2010 Christian Müller was Managing Director for Licensing and Finances at the DFL and was a member of the founding board of the Bundesliga Foundation . He also worked on the development of the Financial Fair Play concept of the UEFA with and held from 2011 to 2012, a visiting professor for business administration at the SRH University Heidelberg, where he also belongs to the practice advisory board sports management. Since 2010 he has taught sports management at various universities, such as the Sport University in Cologne and at Birkbeck College at the University of London . Until 2011 he continued to act as an advisor to the DFL management. During his time at DFL, he also represented the Bundesliga on the UEFA Club Licensing Committee and on the Professional Football Finance Committee of the Association of European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL). From 2007 to 2010 he was a member of the boards of the German Football Association and the League Association .

On May 1, 2012, Müller was appointed as the new managing director by the supervisory board of the second division soccer club Dynamo Dresden. He took over the office in mid-June of the same year from the resigned Volker Oppitz and his acting deputy Stefan Henke. On February 3, 2014, he was given an immediate leave of absence from the association as part of a restructuring of the management.
