Christian Müller (triathlete)
Christian Müller (born June 21, 1972 in Bühl ) is a former German cyclist who later worked as a triathlete .
Career
Cycling 1987 to 1992
From 1987 to 1992 Christian Müller rode for the RSV Falkenfels Bühlertal . Among other things, he won the junior Bundesliga race in Wiesbaden and started for the amateur Bundesliga team Freiburg .
Triathlon since 2004
In 2004 he started at RSV Trio Bühlertal , the triathlon department of RSV Falkenfels, with the triathlon sport - initially on the short distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running).
Long distance since 2006
In 2006 he started the long distance for the first time (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) and in October 2007 he finished 83rd in his second start at the Ironman Hawaii (world championship).
Christian Müller was the fastest amateur in his age group to become world champion in the long distance at the Ironman in Hawaii in 2009 .
In 2010 he was also the best amateur at Ironman Germany in Frankfurt, finishing eleventh and winning his age group. In 2011 at Ironman Wales he achieved the first top ten finish in an Ironman competition with fifth place .
He was able to confirm this result in 2012 with seventh place at Ironman France in Nice. In October 2012 he repeated the success and became the fastest amateur at the Ironman in Kona / Hawaii . He became world champion in the age group 40-44 and stayed under the 9-hour mark for the first time in Hawaii with 8:54:17 hours.
In July 2013 he narrowly missed a podium and was fourth in Roth in the German championship on the long-distance triathlon. In 2013 he was able to improve his personal best again in Hawaii and with 20th place overall he won an amateur world championship for the third time.
Christian Müller lives with his wife in Pfinztal .
