Christian Potyka

Christian Potyka (* 1942 ; † July 22, 1981 in Munich ) was a German journalist .

Life

Potyka initially did military service in the Bundeswehr. From 1964 to 1965 he graduated from the German School of Journalism (DJS) in Munich. Subsequently, he studied political science , ethnology and modern history and was 1974 at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich with a thesis on Haile Selassie to Dr. phil. PhD.

In 1970 he became political editor of the Süddeutsche Zeitung . His focus was military politics. He was one of the few journalists who criticized NATO's double decision (1979). In 1980 he took part in an exchange program with others in the USA .

After a serious operation, he died at the age of 38. His widow accepted prizes for him posthumously .
