Christian Röhrensee (born October 24, 1641 in Ehrenberg , † May 16, 1706 in Wittenberg ) was a German political scientist.

Life

Supported by Michael Wendler , he joined the Faculty of Philosophy as an adjunct on January 3, 1669 . In his first years at the faculty he had primarily dealt with the study of practical philosophy and then passed this on to noble students.

After his sponsor died, Röhrensee decided to take the position of professorship in ethics and politics. As the holder of the chair, he tried to broadly define his field of study by having extensive disputes about natural law and freedom of trade in his lectures. As a result, he got into a dispute with Georg Kasper Kirchmaier .

Above all, he was interested in the political and historical content of a classic author. In doing so, however, he intervened in the subject area of another professor and turned away listeners from him. In the last instance, the elector decided , not in the interests of Röhrensee. Nevertheless, many later well-known personalities passed through his school. He also took part in the organizational tasks and was rector of the university in the summer semesters of 1680 and 1696 .
