Christian Rathgeb (born February 14, 1970 , entitled to live in Rhäzüns ) is a Swiss politician of the FDP. The liberals . The civil parish of Rhäzüns granted him honorary citizenship in 2012 .

Life

After primary and secondary school in Rhäzüns, Christian Rathgeb attended grammar school at the Bündner Kantonsschule in Chur and completed the Matura type C. He studied law at the University of Zurich , where he graduated with a licentiate in 1997. In 2002 he received his doctorate as Dr. iur. with a dissertation in public and constitutional law. In January 2002 he was admitted to the bar. From January 2002 to February 2012 he worked as an independent lawyer in a law firm in Chur.

On August 23, 1986 Christian Rathgeb founded the Young FDP Graubünden together with like-minded people, which he also chaired from 1989 to 1992. From 2000 to 2003 he was Vice President of the FDP Graubünden, from 2003 to 2008 its President.

From 2006 to 2012 Christian Rathgeb was a member of the Grand Council of the FDP and represented the district of Chur . In August 2009 he became the able president elected for the period 2009/2010. From 2006 to 2008 he presided over the Justice and Security Commission of the Grand Council, from 2010 to 2012 he was a member of the Commission for State Policy and Strategy. On January 29, 2012, he was elected to the Government Council of the Canton of Graubünden and confirmed in office on May 18, 2014. From March 2012 to the end of 2018, he headed the Department of Justice, Security and Health. On June 16, 2015, the Grand Council elected him President of the Government for 2016. From 2015 to 2018 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of SwissDRG AG. On June 10, 2018, he achieved the best result of all candidates in his re-election to the government council. Since January 1, 2019, he has been Head of the Department of Finance and Municipalities.
