Christian Rau
Christian Rau (born May 5, 1744 in Leipzig ; † January 22, 1818 there ) was a German legal scholar .
Life
Rau studied at the St. Thomas School in Leipzig . From 1771 to 1768 he studied philosophy and law at the University of Leipzig . He earned a doctorate in 1770 for Dr. jur. In 1776 he became associate professor for law, 1786 full professor, 1790 full professor for institutions , 1793 full professor for pandects and 1796 full professor for codes in Leipzig. In 1811 he became a senior judge. In addition, he was Canon of Meißen and Naumburg as well as the Capitular of Merseburg.
