Christian Schliemann

Christian Schliemann (born July 4, 1962 in Leverkusen ) is a former German hockey goalkeeper , he won the Olympic silver medal with the German national hockey team in 1988 .

Christian Schliemann played at RTHC Bayer Leverkusen . In 1981 he won the European Junior Championship, in 1982 he won the German Junior World Championship in Kuala Lumpur. Also in 1982 Schliemann made his debut in the senior national team. In 1983 Schliemann was part of the German squad at the European Championship in Amstelveen, where the German team won bronze. In 1984 Schliemann was in the goal of the team that won the title at the European Indoor Championships . After bronze at the 1986 World Championships in London and at the 1987 European Championships in Moscow, the German team won again at the European Indoor Championships in 1988 with Schliemann. Schliemann played two games at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul and was otherwise available as a substitute for Tobias Frank . At the 1990 World Cup in Lahore, Schliemann took fourth place with the national team. Between 1982 and 1991, Schliemann played a total of 112 international matches, 34 of them indoors.

For winning the silver medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics, he and the German Olympic hockey team were awarded the silver laurel leaf.

After his career, Schliemann worked as a buyer at Bayer AG .
