Christian Schmid (musician)

Christian Schmid (* 1977 in Stuttgart ) is a German choir director , church musician and university professor as well as cathedral music director at the Würzburg Cathedral of St. Kilian .

Live and act

Schmid studied conducting, church music and instrumental education at the State University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart a . a. with Dieter Kurz , Jon Laukvik and Ludger Lohmann . In 2007 he was appointed cathedral cantor at St. Eberhard Cathedral in Stuttgart, the co- cathedral of the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese , where he worked until 2013. In this function was u. a. the direction of the cathedral chapel St. Eberhard , the chamber choir of the cathedral music in his hands.

Since September 2013 he has been the cathedral music director at Würzburg Cathedral . There he conducts the Würzburg Cathedral Choir, the Würzburger Domsingknaben , the Chamber Choir at the Würzburg Cathedral and the vocal ensemble at the Würzburg Cathedral.

At the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart he teaches choral conducting, at the University of Music Würzburg choral education and in the oratorio class. In the summer semester of 2016, he also represented part of the professorship for choral conducting at the University of Church Music in Rottenburg . In 2018 he was appointed professor by the rector of the Stuttgart University of Music .
