Christian Schwarz (Mayor, 1610)

Christian Schwarz , also Schwartz, Schwartze, Schwarzer, Schwartzer , ennobled by Schwartzer (born February 9, 1610 in Greifswald , † October 8, 1679 in Stralsund ) was Mayor of Stralsund and royal Swedish district administrator in Swedish Pomerania .

Life

Christian Schwarz was the second son of the councilor and later mayor of Greifswald, Christian Schwarz . His mother Regina Völschow was the daughter of councilor Jochen Völschow and Sibilla Mevius and widow of Greifswald's mayor Joachim (Jochen) Brunnemann. In his youth he studied at various academies, including the University of Königsberg , and went on an educational trip through several countries. He completed his studies with a doctorate to become a Dr. iur. from.

After the death of the last Pomeranian Duke Bogislaw XIV in 1637, he worked in the judiciary for the interim government installed in Pomerania by the Swedish occupying power.

In 1639 he became a councilor in Stralsund. Together with Joachim von Braun he was sent as a deputy to the peace negotiations in Osnabrück in November 1645 , where he stayed until April 1647. In 1648 he was city treasurer. In the same year he was a member of a delegation of city representatives who traveled to Stockholm to the court of the Swedish Queen Christina .

On February 21, 1655 he was elected mayor. In 1671 he was appointed royal Swedish district administrator. On December 20, 1673 he was by King Charles XI. raised to the Swedish nobility ("von Schwarzern").

In 1638 he married Margaretha von Braun, a daughter of Peter von Braun († 1657), Altermann of the Stralsund Gewandhaus, and widow of Georg Schwiersen. The marriage had four sons:

  • Christian (1639–1704), royal councilor
  • Johann Friedrich (1642-1716)
  • Georg (1646-1720)
  • Ernst (1648–1729), Hessian privy councilor
