It belongs to the Arrondissement of Évreux and the canton of Conches-en-Ouche and the Pays de Conches community . The inhabitants are called Élierois .

Saint-Élier is about 15 kilometers west-southwest of the city center of Évreux . Saint-Élier is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Portes in the north, La Croisille in the east, Le Val-Doré in the south, Conches-en-Ouche in the southwest and Burey in the west.
